My Journey From Trauma and Burnout to Becoming an Energy Healer

Welcome to The Forged Phoenix.

My name is Amanda Bate, and I am an energy healer who supports people recovering from narcissistic relationships, emotional abuse, grief, burnout, and other life experiences that can leave them feeling disconnected from themselves.

I did not become an energy healer because my life was easy.

I became one because I needed healing too.

My journey was shaped by personal loss, emotional trauma, a long-term narcissistic relationship, and complete burnout from a corporate marketing career. These experiences changed the way I understood healing and eventually led me to create The Forged Phoenix.

Losing Myself in a Narcissistic Relationship

For nearly a decade, I was in a narcissistic relationship that gradually affected my confidence, my voice, and my sense of identity.

At the time, I did not fully understand what was happening. I only knew that I often felt confused, exhausted, emotionally drained, and increasingly unlike the person I had once been.

Narcissistic and emotionally abusive relationships can affect much more than our thoughts. They can also influence the nervous system, self-worth, emotional responses, relationships, and ability to trust ourselves.

Even after a difficult relationship ends, its emotional effects may remain.

The body may continue responding as though it is still in danger. Old protective patterns may continue shaping our choices. Limiting beliefs can take root, and survival responses that once helped us cope may eventually make it harder to feel safe, connected, and fully present.

Grief, Loss, and Corporate Burnout

Then I lost my mom.

Grief changed the direction of my life.

Her passing forced me to face emotions I had spent years managing, avoiding, or trying to push through. At the same time, I was experiencing severe burnout in my corporate marketing career.

From the outside, I appeared productive and capable.

Inside, I felt depleted.

I had spent years surviving, achieving, caregiving, and holding everything together. Eventually, I reached a point where I could no longer ignore how disconnected I had become from myself.

I knew something needed to change.

Searching for a Different Approach to Healing

Like many people, I first explored more traditional approaches to emotional healing.

I tried talk therapy, worked with my general practitioner, exercised, improved my diet, and devoured self-help books and resources.

Some of these approaches were helpful and remain valuable parts of the healing process. However, I still felt that something was missing.

  • I could understand why I felt a certain way and still become emotionally triggered.

  • I could identify an unhealthy pattern and still struggle to change it.

  • I could tell myself I was safe while my body continued reacting as though I was not.

And I began to realize that intellectual understanding alone was not enough for me. I needed an approach that included the mind, body, emotions, energy, beliefs, and nervous system.

That realization led me to explore energy healing and complementary practices, including the Emotion Code, Body Code, Belief Code, Reiki, sound healing, and Qigong.

How Energy Healing Changed My Perspective

Energy healing helped me understand that the effects of trauma, grief, stress, and difficult relationships can continue long after the immediate experience has ended.

Our experiences can shape how we feel, think, respond, connect, and move through the world.

For me, healing was not about forgetting the past or pretending painful experiences had not happened.

  • It was about learning to release what I no longer needed to carry.

  • It was about restoring a sense of safety within myself.

  • It was about reconnecting with my body, intuition, emotions, and voice.

  • Most importantly, it was about reclaiming the parts of myself that had become buried beneath survival.

Why I Became an Energy Healer

As my own healing journey continued, I felt called to learn more.

I completed training in the Emotion Code, Body Code, Belief Code, Reiki, Kinesiology, and Medical Qigong.

What began as a personal search for healing gradually became a desire to help others.

  • I realized that my past experiences had given me a deep capacity to sit with people in their pain without judgment.

  • I understand what it feels like to question your own reality.

  • I understand what it feels like to lose yourself inside a relationship.

  • I understand what it feels like to keep functioning while privately falling apart.

  • I also understand that healing and rebuilding are possible.

My story will never be the same as someone else’s. Every person’s experiences, needs, and healing process are different. However, my lived experience allows me to approach this work with empathy, patience, honesty, and respect.

I did not become an energy healer because I believe one modality can solve every problem.

I became an energy healer because I experienced the value of supporting the whole person.

Creating The Forged Phoenix

The Forged Phoenix was created from the belief that our most difficult experiences do not have to define the rest of our lives.

The phoenix is not untouched by the fire. It is transformed through it. The word “forged” is equally meaningful to me. Forging requires heat, pressure, intention, and time. Healing can feel much the same.

Transformation does not erase what happened. It allows us to create something new from what we have survived.

Today, I work with people recovering from narcissistic relationships, emotional abuse, betrayal, grief, burnout, and other difficult life experiences.

Through energy healing, nervous system support, subconscious belief work, heart-centered practices, and Qigong, I help clients release emotional burdens and reconnect with themselves.

The Phoenix Transformation Method™

My personal and professional experiences eventually became the foundation of the Phoenix Transformation Method™.

This four-phase approach supports emotional healing, nervous system regulation, subconscious change, and reconnection with the self.

Rise Beyond the Past

This phase focuses on releasing emotional burdens, unresolved pain, and the weight of past experiences.

Restore Your Foundation

This phase supports balance within the body and nervous system, helping create a stronger foundation for healing.

Rewrite Your Story

This phase focuses on identifying and transforming limiting beliefs, subconscious patterns, and the stories that may be keeping you stuck.

Reclaim Your Heart

This phase supports self-worth, trust, emotional connection, love, joy, and the ability to receive more fully from life.

These four phases reflect one of the most important lessons I have learned: healing is not simply about moving on; it’s about coming home to yourself.

What You Can Expect From This Blog

This blog will be a space for grounded, honest, and educational conversations about emotional healing and personal transformation.

Each month, I will explore topics such as:

  • Narcissistic relationship recovery

  • Emotional abuse and its lasting effects

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Energy healing

  • Subconscious beliefs

  • Grief and loss

  • Burnout recovery

  • Self-trust

  • Qigong

  • Rebuilding your life after adversity

Some posts will be personal. Others will be educational. Many will include both.

My goal is not to tell you exactly how you should heal. Healing is deeply personal, and there is no single path that works for everyone.

Instead, I hope to offer education, encouragement, perspective, and practical tools that may help you better understand yourself and your experiences.

You Are Allowed to Begin Again

There was a time when I could not imagine the life I have now.

I could not see how grief, emotional trauma, burnout, and a narcissistic relationship could eventually lead me toward more meaningful work.

My healing did not happen overnight, and it was not linear.

There were breakthroughs and setbacks, moments of clarity and periods of doubt.

There were times when I felt strong and times when simply continuing required courage.

Slowly, I began to return to myself.

That is why I do this work today.

Not because I have never struggled, but because I have.

Not because I have every answer, but because I understand how meaningful it can be to receive compassionate support while finding your own way forward.

Wherever you are in your journey, I hope this space reminds you that you are not broken, you are not alone, and your past does not have to determine your future.

  • You are allowed to release what has been weighing you down.

  • You are allowed to reclaim your voice.

  • You are allowed to begin again.

Welcome to The Forged Phoenix.
